Detailed Itinerary Umbwe – 5 days

Regarded as the most difficult route, and also the shortest if ascending via Western Breach
More strenuous on the body due to fast ascension to high altitude with less opportunities for
acclimatization (for instance, Umbwe Route reaches Barranco Huts in 2 days compared to 4 days on Lemosho Route)
Scenic and dramatic route, including trekking on tree roots on the first day
Can have many variations to summit and all descend via Mweka Route
Umbwe via Barafu Hut
Umbwe via Western Breach

We recommend 6 days for the hike but can be shortened to 5 days (however that option is more physically challenging) or extended to 7 days depending on your
preference
